Nearly everyone can benefit from having reflexology during pregnancy. – Association of Reflexologists (AoR)
Pregnancy is surely one of the most natural things in the world; it’s what we are programmed for! However, we can all find ourselves in need of a little extra care and attention at this time.
Common problems maybe:
- Heart burn, nausea, morning sickness
- General fatigue and anxiety
- Back pain, sciatica and PSD (pubis symphysis diastasis)
- Fluid retention, swelling and discomfort (oedema)
And whilst none of these major problems, they can be enough to knock us off out feet, and feel out of sorts. All of these can be helped by maternity reflexology. Whilst some women may prefer to get past the 12 week marker, it’s not essential – it’s just that the treatment will be tailored to your needs.
The endocrine system is gently balanced, soothing and easing these common complaints leaving you more time to plan and enjoy your pregnancy, week by week. Reflexology is a great way to help you connect with baby, and ensure their comfort, keeping stress to a minimum. There is now ample evidence to suggest that a baby’s time in the womb is pivotal to later development
Deep vein thrombosis
Oedema associated with pre eclampsia
Placenta previa (ii, iii & iv)
Oligohydramnios (lack of fluid around baby)
Polyhydramnios (excess fluid around baby)
( NB It is also advised to let your midwife know that you are intending to come for treatment)
